Container Deposit Scheme at Collins Place

We’re excited to announce that Collins Place has partnered with Scouts Victoria to bring the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) directly into our precinct, making it easier than ever for visitors, tenants, and retailers to help the environment and support a great community organisation.

How It Works
You’ll now find special 240‑litre recycling bins discreetly housed inside the existing food court bin stations. Customers can now place their eligible drink containers, such as bottles and cans, into the clearly marked CDS bin. When the bin is full, it will be collected by Scouts Victoria and replaced with an empty one.

Supporting Scouts Victoria
Every eligible container placed in the CDS bins generates a 10-cent refund, which is donated directly to Scouts Victoria. These funds go toward supporting youth programs, leadership development, and community initiatives across Victoria.

Why This Matters

  • Environmental Impact
Helps divert thousands of drink containers from general waste streams.
Supports a cleaner, more sustainable waste management process across the precinct.
  • Cost Savings
Reduces overall waste disposal costs for retailers and building operations.
The collection service is completely free, making it a cost‑effective sustainability initiative.
  • Community Support
    Encourages community participation in recycling.
Creates ongoing financial support for Scouts Victoria—just by recycling containers you’d normally throw away.

Get Involved
Participating is as simple as placing eligible drink containers into the clearly marked CDS bins in the food court. By doing so, you’re helping the environment, reducing waste, and supporting a long‑standing Victorian community organisation.
